The island of Aegina is one of the most popular tourist destinations. It's only 1 hour by boat from the port of Piraeus, perfect for a day trip or longer excursion.

The island is, also, of historical significance. It was the temporary capital of the newly founded Greek state from 11th of January 1827 until 3rd of October 1829. You can still visit the house of the Ioannis Kapodistrias, the governor of Greece and admire the neoclassical architecture.
